Halloween Projection Display

October 13, 2017

I hope you like my Halloween Display this year! If you want to know more about how I made it read on below.

I LOVE decorating! (If you read my blog you know this) Halloween is one of my favorite things to decorate for. This project has actually been a while in the making last year I started with just a small one window show that I put together in one day with inspiration I saw from a friends Facebook post about AtmosFearFX. I immediately wanted to do something and my mom and husband happily helped me put our own video together to project on one of our windows. Below is our first attempt last year. We didn't have audio or anything but I was really happy with it for a first attempt. This year I got an FM transmitter so you can hear our display! I combined our video from last year with Atmos FX Lady of the House:"Lady of the House 3" and their 3DFX Form in our front yard to create a fun show for the neighbors. ( I also ended up adding in Paranormal Passageways: Spectral Surfaces because I loved it so much i needed to find a way to use it ;p ) I was really happy how I combined the Lady of the House with our video to make it a complete story. Read on to see the evolution of our Halloween Display....

Above is the video as seen from our driveway last year. (2016)

Here is the video that we projected and used for this year.

Photoshoot Fun

I had so much fun doing our makeup and characters for our video I had to do a little photoshoot too!

Figuring things out

Part of the fun ( and frustration) of doing these displays is figuring out how to do it. Each year I know I will get better knowing things from previous years. The first thing I wanted to figure out was a way to lock my projector and have it in a box I wouldn't have to worry about it. I tried some things like using a clear slot box. They do sell the type of thing I was looking for like this but who am i kidding im not rich... so I had to DIY. Unfortunately this attempt was not entirely sucessful. I ended up still using the box to prop my RIF 6 cube projector up vertical ( and to hold my media player I used an sd card with) for my Lady of the House. I got a laptop tray holder for my tripod and set it up on that which was really awesome so I could control the height and angle easily.

Then I knew I wanted something to cover the projector as to not ruin the illusion by seeing it so I fashioned a headstone bigger than the other ones I bought at Michaels. If you read my blog at all you know how much I love Michaels and Amazon. Again, that is where I got most of the stuff I used to do this display. To make the headstone I bought a corkboard poster board because it was the size and thickness I wanted and I liked the cork texture. I used Krylon stone texture spray paint to cover it. Then I wrote in hot glue on it and painted it.

I love it when a plan comes together

I added in some other things as the nights went on like more lights and a fog machine to really help bring it to life. Overall I am really happy with my display (my husband might kill me if i spend any more money this year) and can't wait to do more!

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did!
